Important Details You Need to Know

In New York State, you cannot renew your security license without completing this annual course, as such this is marked as mandatory. The Department of Licensing won’t renew your application without proof of this training.

Section 89-G of Article 7A makes it crystal clear that anyone performing security guard duties must be registered with the New York Department of State (DOS). And yes, that means completing all required training courses at schools that have received official approval from the Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS). There are some exemptions to the training requirements, but they’re few and far between – most security professionals will need to complete the following courses to stay compliant with state regulations:
