NY Security Guard Training Record Missing? How to Fix It
Quick answer: start with the school that taught the course
If completed NY security guard training is missing from your state record or personalized renewal form, contact the approved training school first and ask it to confirm that the course roster was submitted to DCJS. New York says individuals may not mail or fax course certificates to the Department of State. The school submits completion information to DCJS, which transfers it electronically to DOS.
Training-record repair checklist
- Gather your full legal name, security guard UID, course name, class date and certificate.
- Contact the school that taught the course—not a different school—and ask it to verify the roster submission.
- Check that the school submitted your name and identifiers exactly as they appear on your registration.
- Keep the school’s written confirmation and your certificate for your records.
- If the school confirms submission but the record still does not appear, use the NY DOS licensing contact route with your UID and supporting details.
Do not automatically retake a class just because a record is missing. First establish whether the class was completed and whether the roster was submitted correctly. Book another class only if it is actually due, incomplete or cannot be validated.
